S1E13 – Baby shower

When I was approximately 5 months pregnant, I decided to organize a baby shower. There was a party hall in the student house, so I reserved that space and started to organize a small meeting. Some friends were still living nearby, so I messaged them to celebrate that baby who was coming to bring us so much joy! The days preceding the event were rushed and I wanted to organize everything in detail with lots of love, affection, and beauty. After inviting all the people I knew, it was time to make some sweets and snacks for the big day.

I decided to make a colorful styrofoam balloon that would hang from the ceiling, and inside its basket, I would put a bouquet of tulips. I gathered some patchwork fabrics I had, stuffed them with fiber, and sewed beautiful tulips. I put a small pearl in the center of the flower's closure, to make it more delicate. This bouquet of tulips gave me a lot of work, so I decided that I would give a tulip accompanied by a small card, as a souvenir for each guest. For that, I gathered the sheets of colored paper I had at home and made by hand all the little souvenir cards. I also decided to make a big tree to stick on the wall. The tree we made was cherry blossom, and in one of its branches, there would have a family of owls. Axe and I were cutting and gluing cherry flowers to stick on the wall until late at night, and I confess that my husband was already in a bad mood because that was a very thorough job.

The next morning, before sunrise, I got up and went to the university gardens and picked several bunches of flowers to decorate the hall. I left everything organized, put my computer in the background with an Adele playlist. Serena was playing a lot in my belly that day, I bet she felt the party was hers. several friends of mine came to visit me, we celebrated a lot, they brought diapers and wet wipes, they also gave me hugs and good wishes. They had no idea how distressed I had been lately, and what my situation was. But I was very happy to be there at that moment, celebrating something that I should have celebrated every day of my pregnancy. At the end of the day I was exhausted, but very happy. I felt that I carried something special inside me and I was also starting to organize myself, I already had some clothes and I also had a lot of diapers to wait for the baby.
