The rumor of my honor to merit medal spread fast (S1E15). Remember how I said that some teachers were proud of my trajectory and effort? So, one of these teachers invited me to a personal meeting with her. She also had not realized that I was pregnant, and was a little impressed by the pregnancy news. Every time someone made that face, I felt ashamed. "I wanted to invite you to do a master's degree under my supervision. There will be a selection test in a few months. But I didn't know about this news" she told me. “After the baby is born, do you intend to stay here or go back to your parents' house? Because you will need help from your mother, the first few days are quite difficult” she added.
I then explained my situation to her. I said I would like to stay and build a family with Axe, but I did not have a place to live yet. I needed to find a job to buy things for the baby's arrival and be able to pay my rent. Axe was studying full-time and was looking for a job as well. She then decided to hire me until the baby was born as a secretary, to help her organize a systematic review course she would soon be offering. I accepted right away and started working the next day, but I still did not know if I should do a master's degree having a newborn baby.
A few months before getting pregnant I was seriously considering a master's degree abroad (S1E8), I even applied but there was no scholarship being offered so I couldn't attend. In any case, the job she had offered me would already cover my rent and still have a little left over to buy food. This opportunity was the light at the end of the tunnel that guided me towards what I wanted.
